Parish Charity - Projects in Uganda for refugees from the Sudanese Civil war. The Adjumani Mobile Clinic & Moyo Babies' Home

The Parish Charity  supports  the work of the International Refugee Trust and in particular that of the Sacred Heart Sisters, working in Uganda.

The Sisters, who are all from the region, provide a variety of support for refugees who have fled into Uganda from Sudan (fleeing the Civil War).

Our original support was to fund the Mobile Health Clinic,  equipped with all the facilities for basic out- patient health care. The team was  trained and equipped to carry out clinical laboratory services, immunisations, minor surgery, and counselling as well as community health care education in the various refugee camps.

The clinic reached  80% of the refugee population in the seven camps it visited, treating nearly 50,000 refugees each year.

Subsequently  the Mobile Clinic was replaced by a fixed clinic and our support was transferred to another of the Sisters' projects caring for abandoned babies in Moyo.

Without this Babies' Home, abandoned and orphaned children would die. The Home provides housing, food and basic medical care for babies, mostly Sudanese refugees.

Funds are needed to keep the Home running, to pay for food and medical supplies. Some of the babies when they arrive at the Home are very ill and the Sisters do all they can to nurture them back to health.
