After many years of planning, the building of a new church and parish centre started in November 2009 and was completed in June 2011. This caters for the needs of our large and growing parish. Whereas our old church was set back from the road, the new church is a landmark building with frontage on the main London Road, with the wall behind the altar visible from the road. The complex has been designed by Christchurch architect Columba Cook and was constructed by Wilding Butler Construction.
The total cost of the project was approximately £3.2M which has initially being funded by the Diocese, although the parish is expected to contribute £1M of this sum.
The church seats over 350 and the adjoining parish centre caters for the activities of many parish and local groups.
The foundation stone was laid on Friday 11 June 2010 by our Bishop, Crispian Hollis.
