Our Catholic Community is strong and vibrant with more than 700 people attending Masses each week.
Not many parishes have the opportunity to build a new church. However, that wonderful, yet challenging, privilege has fallen to us at Sacred Heart. With financial support from the Diocese we are now in the process of constructing a new church and parish centre costing £3.2M.
As a parish, we are a community of believers in Jesus Christ. The strengthening of this, our community, is now a priority so that we can live our faith through building our Church!
Building our new church started in November 2009 and and is expected to be completed in June 2011. The new church will be known as “The Church of Sacred Heart and St Peter the Apostle”, in recognition that part of the complex is being built on land formerly occupied by St Peter’s School.
A new presbytery is also being built next to the church and is also due to be completed in 2011.
