                                             New Church Liturgy Sub-committee

Our task has been to look at all aspects of parish liturgy and 'translate' those into design terms for the benefit of the project architect, Columba Cook. We have had to balance official Church teaching and documentation on the liturgy, with a feel for what is most likely to be effective and acceptable in the context of our own Parish (something which is obviously not easy to do, seeing that one can only provide an overview). Clear examples of this have been decisions over the location of the Blessed Sacrament, and the preferred method of baptism, which affects the design of the font.

When Columba Cook has produced design schemes, we have then looked at these with an eye to liturgical practicality and have referred back to him any issues which we think they raised. In general, however, there has been a very good line-up between our proposals and Columba's interpretation, largely because the initial preparation which we had in the form of introductory talks and sessions on the liturgy means we are all looking in the same direction.

Current Members are:    Judith Hoar, Peter Hull and Fr. Kevin Bidgood.
